Why an NGO
When I got the assurance from Ursulla Hoffmann that I was to Start a secondary school, the she advised if I would like to volunteer at the Orphanage at Nkoaranga to take care of the children. Whaaao this was the best answer I could give because I loved the children from deep down my heart. So immediately I was introduced to Mama Pendo who was the head Mama of Nkoaranga Orphanage and I started workin on everyday basis and I loved it very much staying with children, helping them, playing with them and help the all area including cleaning was the happiest time of working but of learning that having the parents alive was the great gift from God no matter the poor or the rich they are, just their presence was enough. I remember at my earliest timereceiving a 9 hours boy and a mother already died. I cried like I have known that mother. I thank God that boy is now in the University
From Nkoaranga Orphanage I learned that I should grow up and one day go back to my community and help whenever I can to support. I learned there are children with no parents and most of them are yet to be brought to the Children centers and mostly because there are no enough centers, also no clear education on how safe the children are if they are in centers that being home at the infant age. Also there are children above age of 3 who are living in the very poor and bad situation to be supported to school and basic needs.
I learned also that there are many children and youth who can still achieve their dreams if they are supported as I was supported. I am ready and already supporting some of them by using the little I have. I would like to ask anyone to help me reach the community by helping one or two from the poor family, by giving food to the people who does not have food, by buying clothes for the poor who does not have enough to wear, by giving school fees for the ones who likes to go to school but does not have school fees and the school supplies.
I now know that that Mental health problem is a very serious thing and a really disease and we should bring awareness to the community and help to treat and sometimes when it is bad we should consider the help of sober House. As after graduating and get to work my first thing was to help my father get rid of that mental health, I was in to take him to the sober house instead of him walking around, refusing to eat, never sleeping which was dangerous to his life too but for me was more than hurting seing that and I came to prove the saying that ‘the dancing of a mud man is funny when is not a member of your family’ Sober house was a safe place for him and also the doctors could visit and see and talk to him and after 3 months he was fine with some medications to be taken when he feels the situation before he is unaware.
Thank you to my Mother who could notice the signs before. Also later we took him to the National Mental health hospital for further treatment and later to Ngome house which is a sober house in Dodoma and we can see the big improvement. In our community it is believed that mental health problem is caused by witchcraft and not that it is a normal disease which needs to be treated. I can see many people going through the same and families just leaving them with no help. This is because they have no clue on how they could deal with it and some also have tried once but no enough money to support the family daily life and to pay for him or her to be treated. So this needs two sides support, to make awareness and to fund them for treatment.
We have men and women working so hard in very poor environment and sometimes with no capital but if they are supported they can help the families by themselves. The Bring happiness foundation would like to support in capital, education on business and monitoring to see the achievements.
